Successful DEIF Multi-line 300 Basic Training by Caldic Techniek
At Caldic Techniek B.V. we remain committed to develop and increase the knowledge level of our partners. During the past period our colleagues Mark Langeveld and Marcel Reinders have provided several basic trainings at several customers.
These training sessions grew out of the enthusiastic registrations for Caldic’s DEIF Inspiration Days that we organized together with our partner DEIF last October at our Rotterdam office.
Due to the overwhelming interest in this 2nd edition, we decided to split the trainings: part at our location and part at the partners themselves. This allows us to adapt the training to the specific needs of our partners. During the trainings, we saw different applications of the Multi-line 300, from installations on new-build vessels to retrofit applications in existing installations, including systems with both diesel generators and powerful gas turbines.
Purpose and Format of Training.
The purpose of these trainings is to further familiarize engineers with the Multi-line 300. We know from experience that the first steps are often difficult and that guidance from an experienced engineer is not always sufficient. Therefore, we offer this comprehensive basic training, which covers the following topics:
Variants of Multi-line 300
- AMC: The PLC variant for self-programmable applications
- GPU: For simple generator protection
- PPU: Protection, load sharing and synchronization as standard
- PPM: Includes pre-programmed power management
Opbouw en Uitbreidingsmodules van de Controller
- Construction and Extension Modules of the Controller.
Displays and Variants
- Different types of displays and their functions
Difference between PPU and PPM, and what is power management
- Functions that are standard in a PPM versus what should be programmed in a PPU
- Variants and functions of the PPM
- One touch sequence and more
PICUS-software (Power in Control Utility Software)
- Setting up the PPM-300 (Single line diagram, I/O configuration, parameters, NEL, Heavy Consumers, load depended start-stop)
- Dealing with external breakers
- Setting and understanding alarms
Alarm handling
- Types of alarms, color coding, event logs and reporting features
Multi-line 300 as a replacement for the Multi-line 2
- Differences in hardware, features and options
Hands-on Sessions
After lunch, participants went hands-on. With practical assignments, they tested their knowledge in the controller’s emulation mode. Where possible, practical examples were integrated so that specific questions could be addressed directly. It was an intensive and long day, but well worth it, as evidenced by the positive feedback from participants.
